My Second Job Away From Home

So besides being a full time mom I am also a full time designer for The Cabinet Gallery. Rhett started the business over 12 years ago and couldn’t do it on his own. He begged me to quit my job working at Applied Financial and come to work with him.

Just thinking about that makes my stomach turn like it did back then. I couldn’t fathom leaving a stable good paying job to help him start a new company.

Well I decided that I would stand by my man through thick or thin, for rich or for poor. What an understatement! I went from having the perfect life to a stressed out, depressed, over worked, underpaid zombie. Those beginning years were the hardest years of my life. It’s so sad reading back in my old journals crying everyday because everything was so hard. But here we are now many years later, stronger and better because of the trials we went through.

We learned how to humble ourselves and kneel as a family to pray to Heavenly Father for guidance and help with our everyday struggles. I think Rhett was truly inspired. He had a gift and he wanted to share it. (As much as I didn’t want to follow his dreams.) He is very good at what he does and I think I have found my passion in life too. I love my clients, I love designing and creating furniture for their homes and businesses. I love being able to travel and meet so many wonderful and amazing people. I have made so many eternal friends. It feels so good to get invitation after invitation from my clients to come to their homes and have dinner with their families.

I owe so much to my Heavenly Father. He has blessed us far more than I deserve. We have the best staff we have ever had and we have the best clients ever. (I just don’t think that is normal, but I will take it.)

In this picture is a Ribbon Stripped African Mahogany Kitchen. This was a job we did for a client in Vernal, Utah. This client was one of my favorites too. Mark and I designed all of the cabinets in his house, and there were a lot of cabinets. I was so grateful for the trust he put in me by giving me the job. The day I met him was the day he was going to give his commitment to one of our very high end competitors. I think we did a pretty amazing job!
